Checklist Features

Begin by filling out the top section of the checklist with project name, city/town, floor area, number of bedrooms.

Viewing Options

Use the following buttons at the top of the checklist to manipulate the viewing options.

Summary View: Click this button to see a summary of the various sections. Only the dark green component rows and green rows of each section will be visible.

Selection View: Shows the credits that have been selected (marked with a Y or ?).

Show Signoffs: Hides or shows the signoff section of the checklist.

Show Comments: Hides or shows the comments section of the checklist.

Printing

Checklist default printing is in landscape view. Choose to print in portrait view by hiding signoffs and comments to see only the credit items. Portrait view must be selected from the printing options.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite credits are required to achieve certification.

Credit Numbering System

Each row has a unique ID number made up of a maximum of 4 parts: 1. Components of Building Process (dark green rows) A. Section (green rows) 1. Items (light green rows) a. Options (where applicable)

Third-Party Verification

An approved third-party rater will conduct 2-4 site visits including an inspection of framing, a thermal bypass inspection, blower door test and other diagnostic testing if applicable. In the New Homes program, the rater will do a plan review and develop a HERS index score, during the design phase of the project. The third-party rater will also help certify that the project is consistent with Minnesota GreenStar’s Green building standard and the intent of the program.

Icons in the Documentation Format section of the checklist lend guidance on the type of documentation necessary.

Photograph

Written documentation – signature, word document, receipt, construction plans or any other appropriate written information

Templates for documentation of some credits can be found at the bottom of the checklist in the gray workbook tabs labeled with the appropriate credit number in the remodeling program, and with the type of template in the New Homes program. For example: the waste management plan template can be found under tab 9PR—1 in the Remodeling checklist.
